Sayadaw was born on Monday, 9 May, 1988 (the 12th waning day of Kason, Myanmar Era 1350), in the hamlet of Hsin Kut, Sagaing Division, Myanmar. His parents, U Tin Nyo and Daw Mar Tin, gave him the name of Maung Aung San U. When he was 13 years old, they supported him to become a novice. He ordained as a novice under the preceptorship of the Sayadaw of Hseip Khon Nyaung Pin Monastery. He received the religious name of Ashin Acchariya. When Ashin Acchariya was 20 years of age (approximately 2008), he received the higher ordination of a monk with the support of his parents. He studied Pāli scriptures at the New Ma So Yein Study center in Mandalay. In the 2013-2014 academic year, under the auspices of Sayadaw U Raja-dhammā-bhivamsa at Dhamma Suwanna Mettā Vihara of Ma So Yein, he completed the scriptural examinations and received the degree of Sasana Dhaja Dhammacariya. In July 2016, after practicing vipassana meditation intensively, he undertook duties as a staff monk at Panditarama Shwe Taung Gon Sasana Yeiktha in Yangon. Eventually, he took the responsibility of abbot of Panditarama’s branch center at Than Lyin.
In November 2024 Ashin Acchariya was sent to undertake responsibilities at Saraniya Dhamma Meditation Center in Manchester, England, where he now resides.
