In 1998, after studying history, Bruno Vandergucht made his first ten-day retreat in Naarden, the Netherlands. Since then, he has made a retreat almost every year. He practised in Nepal under the guidance of U Vivekananda in 2004 and did several one to two month retreats in Burma, Thailand, Malaysia and Belgium under the guidance of several sayadaws, but mostly under Sayadaw U Thuzana. In 2015, he graduated from ITBMU University in Yangon, Burma, after studying Pali, Burmese and Buddhist scriptures for a year. In 2019, he spent another year in Burma to deepen his knowledge. In Belgium, he helps to organise the activities of the Dhamma Group, including retreats.
